Emergency Department RN — Night Shift | Eureka, CA

13-Week Contract | Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This Emergency Department position serves a high-volume, combined adult and pediatric ED with approximately 135 visits per day. The unit is approved for pediatric emergency care and manages the full spectrum of emergency presentations across all age groups — neonates through geriatrics.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
  • Weekend requirement: 3 out of every 6 weekends
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer requests may not be granted (max 7 days)

Float Requirement

Travelers will float to the Observation Unit to cover ER hold patients. Refusal to float may result in assignment termination.

Clinical Scope

  • High-acuity, fast-paced environment managing trauma, neurological emergencies, behavioral health, respiratory distress, and multisystem conditions
  • Procedures include intubation, chest tube management, procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation/paralytics, and cardiac rhythm management
  • Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, radiology, social services, and phlebotomy

Required Certifications

ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (preferred in hand; candidates willing to obtain prior to start may be considered), ENPC

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of ED experience
  • Active California RN license required (compact license must be in hand at submission; pending licenses not accepted)
  • 40-hour orientation
  • Two references covering the past 3 years required prior to start

Scrubs: Personal scrubs accepted; no printed patterns
