Medical-Surgical Telemetry | Travel RN | Winston-Salem, NC
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (extensions available through late February)

Unit Overview
This busy surgical unit cares for adult and geriatric patients recovering from colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, orthopedic/spine, urologic, and vascular procedures. The team is supported by IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, phlebotomy, rapid response, and social services.
Schedule & Logistics
- Every other weekend required
- Occasional float within the facility
- Self-scheduling based on unit needs and manager input
- 36 hours of paid orientation provided
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white (not provided by facility)
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; post-surgical experience strongly preferred (general, ortho/spine, GI, vascular, or hepatobiliary)
- First-time travelers considered
- BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- IV start and telemetry skills required; must pass an EKG competency assessment prior to start
- NC or compact license required (pending status accepted at submission)
- Local candidates accepted (reduced rate applies within 50 miles)
Key Clinical Skills
Central line and PICC management, chest tube care, heparin and insulin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation, wound/wound vac care, surgical drain management, blood product administration, and PCA management.
Important Scheduling Policies
- Call-off policy is strictly enforced; excessive call-offs may result in contract cancellation
- No RTO requests after booking; up to 7 pre-approved days permitted (no holidays during first week; must work 2 of 3 major holidays)
