Labor & Delivery RN — Travel Contract | Torrance, CA

Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)

Contract Duration: 16 weeks | Start Date: ASAP

This acute care facility's Labor & Delivery unit manages a high volume of both low- and high-risk obstetric patients, averaging 210–257 births per month. The unit cares for patients across the full spectrum of antepartum and intrapartum conditions, including TOLAC/VBAC, multiple gestation, hypertensive disorders, diabetic conditions, and complex multi-system diagnoses.

Clinical Scope & Responsibilities:

• Circulate and recover cesarean sections; assist with D&C, hysterectomy, and cerclage removal
• Manage postpartum hemorrhage interventions and blood transfusions
• Apply internal monitoring devices (FSE and IUPC); perform non-stress tests
• Provide couplet care and support baby-friendly protocols
• Float to Mother/Baby unit as needed

Schedule & Expectations:

• Weekend availability required
• Float to a nearby sister facility may be required; refusal may affect guaranteed hours
• Holiday commitment: must work 3 of 5 designated holidays
• All RTO must be submitted at time of offer; no post-offer RTO guaranteed
• Facility may cancel one shift per two-week pay period
• 24-hour orientation

Required Certifications:

• ACLS, BLS, NRP
• AWHONN Advanced *(C-EFM accepted in lieu)*

Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years L&D experience; travel experience required
• Charge/preceptor experience preferred
• Active compact RN license required at time of submission
• Prior experience with high-risk antepartum and couplet care strongly preferred
