Surgical Center RN — Preoperative Care

Shift & Schedule

• Afternoon: 12 PM–10 PM
• 4 × 10-hour shifts per week
• No weekends (evenings only)
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• 13-week contract

Unit Overview

You'll provide preoperative nursing care in a busy surgical center, preparing patients for same-day and overnight procedures. The unit handles 55–70 cases daily across multiple suites, supporting a range of surgical specialties including robotic cases.

Your Role

• Preoperative assessments, IV placement, and patient education
• Scrubbing required for RNs
• Support for charge nurse and house supervisor duties as needed
• Float to OR holding area as assigned
• BLS certification required

Call & On-Call Expectations

• 1–2 second calls per schedule month (24-hour call, one weekend day per month, 7 AM–7 AM)
• 30-minute call response time
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Current RN license (willing to wait for licensure)
• BLS certification
• Strong IV skills and surgical care knowledge
• Valid driver's license (50-mile radius applies)
• Reporting any licensure hits at time of submission

What to Expect

Scrubs provided. Orientation includes surgical center and preoperative protocols. Charting system transition to new platform scheduled during contract period.
