Float Pool RN — Medical/Surgical Telemetry | West Burlington, IA
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 36 hours/week with overtime potential
Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: November 9, 2026
This float pool position serves a multi-campus health system, with the primary assignment at the West Burlington campus and occasional float requirements to satellite campuses in the region. Floating may include any non-critical care inpatient unit, including Behavioral Health and the Emergency Department for boarded patients. Nurses with critical care experience may also be floated to the CCU or ICU.
Patient Populations Served:
- Geriatric, adult, medical/surgical, telemetry, and psychiatric patients
Schedule Details:
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Every other holiday rotation required
- Occasional on-call during low census; must be able to arrive on-site within one hour if called in
Key Requirements:
- Active RN license
- ACLS certification required
- Candidates must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a Basic Dysrhythmia test-out is administered during the first week of orientation and must be passed to work in this float pool
- Recent experience in a comparable unit within the last 12 months required
What to Expect Clinically:
This is a dynamic, high-flexibility role requiring strong assessment skills across varied acuity levels. You'll transition between medical/surgical, telemetry, behavioral health, and potentially critical care environments based on census and staffing needs.
