Medical-Surgical Nursing – 13-Week Travel Assignment
Location: Birmingham, AL
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Unit: Medical-Surgical
Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role
Join the facility's medical-surgical unit, where you'll deliver comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical diagnoses. This role offers the opportunity to work with varying acuity levels while building strong clinical skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Your Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate care as needed
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in the medical record
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact license)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years' travel nursing experience
- Minimum 1+ year Med-Surg experience
- Ability to manage 4–6 patients per shift
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CMSRN certification preferred
