ICU Travel Nurse — Kansas City, MO
Nights | 13-Week Contract | 48 Hours Guaranteed
This high-acuity ICU opportunity is ideal for experienced critical care nurses comfortable managing complex, multi-system patients in both medical and surgical ICU settings. The unit operates on a 3×12-hour night shift schedule (19:00–07:00) with an every-other-weekend commitment (or 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period).
Clinical Scope
The unit cares for a diverse critical care population, including trauma, stroke, and post-operative surgical patients. Nurses manage advanced interventions, including:
- IV vasoactive medications and hemodynamic monitoring
- Mechanical ventilator management
- Chest tube management and placement
- Arterial line and central line placement
- Ventriculostomy care
- CRRT and therapeutic hypothermia
- ECMO
- Moderate sedation
- Cardiac rhythm identification and management
Float Policy
Nurses may float to like units including neurological and cardiac ICU, telemetry, progressive care, burn, and ED inpatient overflow.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (required)
- ACLS and BLS (required)
- NIHSS (required)
- TNCC (preferred)
- Strong hemodynamic and ventilator management skills
Dress Code
- Navy scrub top (no t-shirts)
- Navy or black scrub bottoms
- Solid navy, white, or black jackets and undershirts
