Pediatric Hematology/Oncology RN — Des Moines, IA
Nights | 13-Week Contract
This travel nursing opportunity is in a pediatric hematology/oncology unit caring for a diverse patient population including Hem/Onc, general medical-surgical pediatrics, and a range of pediatric specialties.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours/week
- Every 3rd weekend required
- Holiday rotation (summer holidays included)
- On-call possible during low census: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Float Requirements
Nurses may be asked to float to the NICU, general pediatric floor, PICU, or ED (inpatient holds).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of Pediatric and/or Oncology nursing experience
- Pediatric experience within the last 18 months
- Hematology/Oncology experience required
- At least one completed travel nursing contract within the last 18 months (no first-time travelers)
- Willingness to float to the ED for inpatient holds
Certifications & Licensure
- BLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) — documentation required
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
Additional Requirements
- Pediatric/Oncology-specific skills checklist required
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, or director within the past 24 months (preferred)
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
