Pediatric Nursing — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA

This 13-week night shift contract places you in a pediatric unit managing a diverse patient population including hematology/oncology, general med-surg, and a broad range of pediatric specialties. The role requires flexibility to float across multiple pediatric care areas, including the ED, PICU, NICU, and Peds Hem/Onc, based on unit need.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights, 3x12s | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday rotation: 1–2 of 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
• On-call limited to scheduled shifts only (low census)

Clinical Details

• Patient population: Pediatric Heme/Onc, Med-Surg, and all pediatric specialties
• Float coverage: Peds ED, PICU, NICU, and Peds Onc/Hem as needed

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• Minimum 12 months of pediatric nursing experience; experience must be within the previous 18 months
• Electronic medical records experience within the previous 12 months
• BLS — AHA or ARC (required)
• PALS — AHA (required)
• Pediatric-specific skills checklist (required)
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, or director within the past 24 months (preferred)
• Valid driver's license (required)

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers welcome with qualifying experience
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Start date: December 7, 2026
