Registered Nurse – Endoscopy
Location: Louisville, KY
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 x 10 days (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
On-Call: 1 weekend plus 5 additional days per 10-week period (includes one Monday and one Friday)
About the Role
You'll provide direct nursing care in a busy endoscopy suite, supporting patients undergoing a range of procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, and bronchoscopy. This is hands-on clinical work where you'll assess patients, administer and monitor moderate/conscious sedation, assist physicians during procedures, and manage post-procedure recovery and discharge.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and educate patients pre-procedure; verify sedation consent and baseline status
- Administer and monitor conscious/moderate sedation per protocol and physician orders
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures; handle specimens and equipment
- Monitor vital signs and sedation level continuously; alert the team to changes
- Provide post-procedure recovery care and discharge instructions
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain endoscopy equipment per infection control standards
- Document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient response accurately
- Collaborate with gastroenterologists, techs, and interdisciplinary team
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- 2+ years acute care RN experience (1+ year endoscopy experience required)
- Experience with conscious sedation administration and monitoring
- Proficiency with facility EMR systems
Preferred
- BSN
- CGRN (Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse)
