Emergency Room RN — Night Shift | Merced, CA | 13-Week Contract
This Emergency Room travel assignment is a great fit for experienced ER nurses comfortable managing a high-volume, acute-care environment. The department sees a broad range of emergency presentations, with STEMI, hemorrhagic stroke, and pediatric patients transferred out. The unit is stroke certified and serves as the base hospital for EMS, so rapid, thorough assessment and documentation skills are essential.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 2 weekends per 4 weeks; holidays as needed
- Self-scheduling with rebalancing rights; travel teams cannot be guaranteed identical schedules
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks | Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
- Available start dates: 10/26, 11/9, 11/30, 12/14
Clinical Environment
- Active emergency department with cardiac monitoring capabilities throughout
- area with dedicated bays staffed by midlevels, RNs, and LVNs
- ER holds managed by ER nursing staff; EMTALA compliance required
- No floating outside the ER
- Orientation: up to 6 preceptored shifts
Support Services
- Charge nurse present 24/7
- ER Techs (EMT/MA/CNA) performing tech duties and EKGs
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available around the clock
- Physicians and midlevels on-site simultaneously
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Additional Requirements
- Recent electronic health record experience (must be noted on resume)
- Strong documentation skills
- Scrub color: navy blue; undershirts must be navy, white, or black
