Float Pool ICU RN — Night Shift | Mission Viejo, CA
This is a float pool ICU position covering night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour). The role supports both a cardiac ICU and a surgical ICU, managing adult and geriatric patients across high-acuity presentations.
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12 (19:00–07:30)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
Float Requirements
This is a true float position. Clinicians may be floated to different ICU units or to lower-acuity floors (including telemetry) for up to 100% of shifts. Refusal to float may result in assignment termination or loss of guaranteed hours.
Scheduling Expectations
- Minimum every-other weekend; weekends will likely exceed this to meet unit needs
- Must commit to 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
- All RTO must be submitted at time of application; post-offer RTO requests may not be honored
- Scheduling accommodations for outside employment will not be considered
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Clinical Scope
The unit manages complex adult and geriatric ICU patients. Key skills include: ventilator management, arterial and central line care, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, IV insulin protocols, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, CVA/stroke, post-neurosurgery, and post-cardiac surgery presentations.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience
- Active compact license required at time of submission
- NIHSS required; CPI/MAB preferred
- Pending licenses not accepted
