ICU RN – Night Float Pool

Position Overview

Join the ICU float pool as a night shift RN in an acute care hospital. You'll provide direct patient care across multiple ICU units, with flexibility to support lower-acuity areas when needed. This is a dynamic role for nurses who thrive in varied environments and enjoy collaborating across different patient populations.

Shift & Schedule

  • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum every other weekend; additional weekend shifts may be needed to support unit census
  • Holiday Commitment: Must work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Float Scope: You may be assigned to different ICU floors or lower-acuity units, including telemetry, based on facility needs

Patient Care Details

  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
  • Daily Census: Approximately 27 patients
  • Clinical Scope: Post-cardiac and neurosurgery care, stroke management, ventilator management, central line and arterial line care, hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz, IABP), vasoactive drip titration, continuous sedation, multi-system organ failure management, and more

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year ICU or critical care experience (first-timers considered with supervisor approval)
  • Current RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications
