Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN – Inpatient Surgery Unit
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN for a night shift position in a combined medical-surgical and surgical stepdown unit. You'll care for adults recovering from a wide range of surgical procedures and trauma-related injuries.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- 13-week contract
- Every other weekend required
- Float to other units as needed
- No call required
Clinical Setting
Common Procedures & Equipment
Cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation/closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and femoropopliteal bypass. You'll manage wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes, JP drains, hemovac drains, and penrose drains. Skills in central line care, blood product administration, dysrhythmia interpretation, and high-flow oxygen delivery are essential.
Requirements
- BLS certification required
- 2+ years of nursing experience (first-time travelers with relevant experience considered)
- NC or Compact license
- Must pass EKG testing before start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Orientation
- 2 days of hospital orientation
- 24 hours of floor training
Dress Code
Navy scrubs (navy on bottom/white top acceptable)
