Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC
This Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit manages adult and geriatric patients with a broad range of medical and surgical diagnoses, including those requiring COVID isolation precautions. The unit provides multi-level care and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, IV teams, physical therapy, and social services.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required
- Float required as needed
Contract Details
- 13-week contracts (longer terms of 13–26 weeks considered)
- 36 or 48-hour weekly contracts accepted
- Candidates must be prepared to serve on a Storm/Hurricane Team and may be required to work during declared emergencies or mass casualty events
Clinical Skills Required
- Heparin and IV insulin drip management
- Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Blood product administration
- PCA and peripheral line care
- Wound care, including wound VAC
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions/PPE
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact); pending license accepted for submission
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- BLS required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Charge experience preferred
- First-time travelers welcome
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Orientation & Scrubs
- 24-hour hospital orientation during week 1; daily class attendance required
- Scrub color: Navy
Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off; no RTO during the first week. Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays.
