Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Redding, CA | 13-Week Contract
This fast-paced Telemetry unit focuses on neurological and mixed medical-telemetry patients. Common diagnoses include stroke, TIA, seizure, and traumatic brain injury. The unit runs at full capacity and maintains a strong emphasis on bedside shift report, patient experience, and stroke core measures.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend (Fri/Sat nights)
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Self-scheduling by seniority; shift trades available
- Schedules posted approximately 3 weeks in advance
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks | Start: October 20, 2026
- First to float (to IMCU or Med/Surg departments)
- No on-call requirement
Required Certifications
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to or during orientation
- COVID vaccination required
Clinical Scope
- RNs manage central telemetry monitoring and must independently read and interpret cardiac strips; monitor techs are available but strip interpretation is a nurse responsibility
- Common drips in use: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, DKA protocol (set-rate; titration not required)
- Respiratory support includes BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula; no ventilators
- 1–2 unit aides on shift; charge nurse and resource/break RN do not carry patient assignments
Requirements
- 2–3 years of telemetry or neuro-telemetry experience preferred; first-time travelers considered
- BSN not required
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to patient experience standards
- Scrubs: Navy
Orientation consists of one shift on the unit.
