Telemetry RN | 12-Hour Days | Redding, CA | 13-Week Contract

This busy telemetry unit specializes in neurological and cardiac patients, including those with stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI, and mixed medical telemetry presentations. The unit is consistently at full census, with a strong emphasis on bedside shift report, patient experience, and stroke core measures.

Shift & Schedule

  • 12-hour days, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
  • Every other weekend (EOW); first to float
  • 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun)
  • Self-scheduling by seniority; shift trades available; no block scheduling
  • Holidays worked into permanent staff rotation

Clinical Details

  • Drips: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, DKA set rate/protocol (no titration required)
  • Respiratory support: BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC (no ventilators)
  • Central telemetry monitoring; RNs must read and interpret their own strips — dysrhythmia exam required
  • Float potential to IMCU or Med/Surg departments

Unit Support

  • Shift Nurse Manager and Resource/Break RN (neither takes a patient assignment)
  • 1–2 unit aides per shift

Requirements

  • Active RN license
  • 2–3 years of telemetry or neuro-telemetry experience preferred; first-time travelers considered
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • COVID vaccine required
  • Scrubs: Navy (not provided)
  • Dysrhythmia exam required prior to or at start of assignment

  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Guaranteed hours: 36/week
  • Orientation: 1 unit-specific shift
