Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens. You will review, evaluate, document, and report results while maintaining strict patient confidentiality and following all lab safety protocols. This role includes training and supervision of laboratory assistants and clerks as needed.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform specimen collection, labeling, handling, preservation, and storage following pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical protocols
- Prioritize and execute lab orders (STAT, ASAP, routine, and timed studies)
- Conduct testing across multiple disciplines: chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, and bacteriology
- Perform and document quality control checks
- Review and evaluate test result validity, correlating findings with diagnoses and addressing discrepancies
- Communicate critical values promptly to appropriate clinicians
- Ensure proper disposal of contaminated materials and maintain a clean work area
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, or allied health technologies (or equivalent)
- Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license
- Current certification from ASCP or NCA preferred
- Minimum 1+ years recent clinical laboratory experience
- Current BLS certification
- Experience with the facility's EMR system preferred
Schedule
Variable 5×8 shifts with rotating start times between 6:00 AM–2:00 PM. No call required.
Contract Details
13-week assignment with 36 guaranteed hours per week.
