PACU Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You'll provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and diagnostic procedures, with a focus on close monitoring, pain management, and early complication detection during the immediate post-operative period.
Shift & Contract Details
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
- Start date: October 1, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients closely during the immediate post-anesthesia recovery period
- Implement and manage individualized patient care plans
- Manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms
- Identify and respond to complications; communicate patient status to the healthcare team
- Coordinate discharge planning and prepare patients for transfer or discharge
- Document care accurately and follow physician and nursing orders
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous PACU, ICU, critical care, ED, or perioperative nursing experience
- PALS certification
- CPAN or CAPA certification
- Experience with airway management and hemodynamic monitoring
