Pediatric Step-Down RN | Denver, CO | 13-Week Contract

This pediatric step-down unit in Denver, CO cares for a mixed-acuity patient population, including post-operative spinal fusion patients, chest tube management, and high-flow oxygen therapy. The unit does not manage CPAP, BiPAP, or trach/vent patients — those are handled by the PICU.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• First-contract travelers must be open to night shift; experienced travelers are prioritized for day shift placement
• Schedule flexibility is a priority — traveler scheduling requests are considered alongside permanent staff

Unit Structure

• Both day and night shifts include a patient-free charge RN and PCT support
• A Clinical Nurse Coordinator is available as an additional resource several days per week

Common Procedures

• NGT insertion, Foley catheterization, TP tubes, PIV placement, phlebotomy
• Occasional lumbar punctures

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of current pediatric RN experience
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Comfortable with high-flow oxygen, spinal fusion care, and chest tube management

Preferred

• Prior travel nursing experience
• Strong team-oriented mindset; the unit values collaboration and mutual support in a fast-paced environment
