Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Travel Nurse — Night Shift

Grass Valley, CA | 13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This fast-paced Medical-Surgical unit manages a general adult patient population including post-operative general surgery and orthopedic cases. Travelers must be comfortable floating to a Telemetry setting and independently reading and interpreting EKG strips.

Schedule & Assignment Details

• 12-hour night shifts; shift start 6:45 PM with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation with core staff
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling available four weeks in advance; extra shifts and trades are accessible remotely
• First to float; will float to Telemetry

Clinical Requirements

• Active RN license (California)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must demonstrate competency with Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
• EKG strip interpretation required
• A dysrhythmia exam (basic level) must be completed and passed prior to acceptance — two attempts allowed
• Two supervisory references required at submittal (one within 12 months, one within 3 years)

Unit Environment

• High-acuity, two-hallway layout
• Charge nurse generally does not carry a patient load
• Nurse aides available based on census
• Hospitalist/intensivist in-house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• Floor orientation: 1–2 days with a preceptor

Dress Code

Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black

Note: Facility-wide orientation is held at an offsite location during the first week of the assignment.
