Progressive Care Unit RN
Position Overview
Join a progressive care unit as an RN on a day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) rotation. This is a 13-week contract position starting November 30, 2026, with 48 guaranteed hours per week.
Unit Description
The progressive care unit manages intermediate-to-high-acuity patients requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions. You'll care for patients post-acute illness or surgery, those on vasoactive medications, and those requiring airway support. The unit performs central line and PICC line placements, chest tube placements, and provides specialized respiratory support including high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP therapy.
Staffing & Patient Care
- Primarily RN-based care with unit secretaries available 7 AM–7 PM
- Bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and daily leadership rounds are standard
- Float rotation applies to full-time and part-time staff; PRN staff float once weekly to telemetry as needed
Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Advanced assessment and critical thinking skills
- Competency with vasoactive drip management
- Every 3rd weekend rotation; rotating holiday schedule
Dress Code
Charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black bottoms; black or charcoal grey jacket.
Schedule Options
Full-time (36 hrs/week), part-time (48 hrs/week), or PRN available with varying weekend requirements. Weekend rotations apply.
