PACU Registered Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and diagnostic procedures. You'll work in a fast-paced environment where critical thinking, decisive judgment, and strong clinical skills are essential.

Shift & Contract Details

  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Start Date: October 1, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Closely monitor patients during the immediate post-anesthesia period
  • Manage pain and nausea; identify and respond to complications
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and serve as primary care coordinator
  • Execute physician and nursing orders
  • Assess discharge planning needs and coordinate with healthcare team members
  • Ensure patient stability prior to transfer or discharge
  • Follow Standard Precautions and use appropriate personal protective equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a stressful environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous PACU or critical-care experience
  • PALS certification (for pediatric patients)
  • CPAN or CAPA certification
  • Experience with airway management and hemodynamic monitoring
