12-Hour Night Shift Nurse – Medical/Surgical Float Pool
Position Overview
Join the night shift nursing team in a medical/surgical float pool role. You'll work 12-hour nights, every other weekend, with 48 guaranteed hours per week across multiple units in an acute care setting.
Schedule & Duration
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, nights
- Schedule: Every other weekend
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 per week
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks
- Start Dates: October 12 or October 26, 2026
Float Assignments
You'll rotate across medical/surgical units, providing continuity and flexibility. Floating is a core responsibility of this role.
Unit Details
- Patient Population: Surgical cases (colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, orthopedic) and medical conditions (diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney and GI disorders)
- Care Model: Total care environment with nursing assistant support (ratios vary by shift)
- Staffing: Charge nurse on each shift takes a patient assignment
- Monitoring: Remote telemetry available; RNs are not required to read strips
- Respiratory Support: Respiratory therapy readily available for equipment troubleshooting
Requirements
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
- Current medical/surgical nursing experience
- Large hospital experience preferred
- RN license
Additional Information
- 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
- Navy scrubs (not provided)
- Up to 4 shifts may be canceled per 13-week assignment period
- No on-call or standby requirements
