Med/Surg Float Pool RN — Little Rock, AR
12-Week Contract | Days | 48-Hour Guarantee
This float pool position places you across a med/surgical division covering medical-oncology, two surgical units, and two medical units. You'll work 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with a guaranteed 48 hours per week and an every-other-weekend commitment. No holidays required, and no call or standby obligation.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
The float pool serves a broad adult population across multiple acuity levels, including:
- Surgical patients: colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general surgery, and orthopedic
- Medical patients: diabetes, heart disease, COPD, renal conditions, and GI diagnoses
RNs provide total care — no dedicated PCAs. Telemetry is not a primary component of this role; only occasional strip reading is required via remote monitoring. Respiratory therapy is available on the floor, with RNs performing basic troubleshooting as needed. No drip titration is required.
Unit Structure
- A charge nurse is present each shift and carries a patient assignment
- Nurse aides/patient care techs are available with varying ratios
- Staff are assigned to units based on need; self-scheduling is not available
- Floating to any med/surg pod is required
Requirements
- Active RN license (Arkansas or compact)
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- Current, relevant medical/surgical experience; large hospital background preferred
- BSN not required

- Start date: October 12 or October 26, 2026 only
- Scrubs: Navy (not provided)
- Orientation: 3 unit-specific shifts
- Cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract
