Emergency Room RN — Night Shift | Santa Cruz, CA | 13-Week Contract

The facility's busy Emergency Department is seeking experienced RNs for night shift coverage. This high-volume unit sees an average of 150 patients per day, managing a mixed adult and pediatric population across the full spectrum of acute and emergent presentations, including psychiatric holds. A significant homeless population is served, and candidates should be comfortable navigating complex psychosocial situations alongside clinical care.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required; holidays rotate into permanent staff schedule
• First to float when needed
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Start date: October 26, 2026

Clinical Environment

• Fast-track area staffed by mid-level providers
• Respiratory therapy, hospitalist/intensivist, and pharmacy support available around the clock
• PCTs on unit; no dedicated IV team
• 2-shift unit-specific orientation

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience
• Active RN license; BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Must complete Moderate Conscious Sedation competency testing prior to start
