Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3x12-hour shifts
Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: October 12, 2026
About the Unit
This Level III NICU cares for neonates and infants across a range of acuities, including premature infants, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and sepsis workups. The unit operates with robust interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.
Clinical Skills & Procedures
Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and high-frequency ventilation
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and nitric oxide therapy
- UAC/UVC line placement and PICC management
- Arterial line management and IV vasopressor administration
- Gavage, bottle, and breastfeeding support; infant-driven feeding protocols
- Surfactant and steroid administration
- Neonatal dosage calculations and sepsis workups
Schedule & Float Requirements
- Every-other-weekend coverage required
- Float to Peds, PICU, and Newborn Nursery (postpartum/infants only)
- No on-call required
- No scheduling requests or RTO in the first two weeks; holiday coverage is expected
- No Christmas RTO; Thanksgiving RTO subject to director approval
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years NICU RN experience; NICU III level required
- First-time travelers considered with 3 years of NICU experience
- Active California RN license (no temp or pending licenses accepted)
- Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS
- Flu vaccination required — no exemptions
- Two supervisor-level references from within the past year required at submission
