Emergency Department RN — Knoxville, TN | 13-Week Contract

This position supports an emergency department team by caring for admitted patients awaiting inpatient bed placement. Nurses in this role manage a boarding population in a designated area or hallway setting, providing ongoing acute care until beds become available. When census allows, clinicians may be utilized in an acute care area, though this is uncommon.

Shift Details

• Days | 3×12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend and some holidays required
• Block scheduling considered

Clinical Scope

• Manage boarded ED patients pending inpatient admission
• Acute Care / Med-Surg Telemetry patient population
• High-volume environment requiring strong independent judgment and prioritization

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Acute Care or MS Tele experience
• ACLS and BLS required
• Active TN RN license or valid compact license — must be in hand at time of submission (pending license not accepted)
• Prior charting experience required for RN positions
• Float within scope as needed
• 2 references required (may be pending at submission)
• First-time travelers considered based on relevant experience

• Orientation includes non-billable modules averaging 2–4 hours, completed on-site
