Med/Surg Oncology RN — Travel Contract | Wilmington, NC
This night-shift opportunity places you on a dedicated medical-surgical oncology unit caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and biotherapy. The team is supportive, experienced, and committed to helping travelers succeed in the oncology setting.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights | 3×12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Contract length: 13–26 weeks
- Every other weekend required
- Call required if called off a prescheduled shift
- Float required to similar med/surg units and alternate inpatient care locations, including inpatient holding
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration (IV, PO, and injectable)
- Diagnoses include cancer, sepsis, septic shock, AKI, ARF, encephalopathy, DKA, malignant neoplasms, diabetic foot ulcers, and overdose
- Skills required: port access, blood product administration, central line blood draw, PICC line management, peripheral line care, heparin and insulin drips, surgical drains, chest tube management, wound care/wound vac, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient experience (Med/Surg background)
- BLS required
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration preferred; candidates willing to obtain certification prior to or during assignment are accepted — onsite training provided
- EKG competency testing required prior to start
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Details
- Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts)
- Scrubs: Navy blue and white
- Monthly staff meeting attendance required
- Must be prepared to work during facility emergency/disaster events
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
