Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN for night shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses with 1+ years of PICU experience, including first-time travelers.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)
  • Schedule Type: Self-scheduling—work 3 consecutive nights or split them throughout the week
  • Weekend Coverage: Required on a variable basis
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: November 16, 2026
  • On-Call: Not required
  • Block Scheduling: Not required

Clinical Details

  • Daily Census: ~15 patients across 18 unit beds
  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents requiring intensive care
  • Clinical Scope: Ventilator management, sedation, intubation assistance, central/implanted line care, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, chest tube management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP management, and post-cardiac-surgery care
  • Interdisciplinary Support: Respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, social work, and rapid response teams

Float Requirements

You may float to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units. Flexibility with floating is essential to the assignment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year as an RN (PICU experience required)
  • Certifications: BLS, PALS
  • License: Compact license required at submission
  • References: 2 references covering 1+ year within the last 3 years
  • Local Radius: 50 miles
