NICU RN – Level IV | Night Shift | Lubbock, TX
This 13-week travel contract places you in a high-acuity neonatal intensive care unit managing complex neonatal cases across the full spectrum of NICU care. The unit cares exclusively for neonates, with a daily census around 35, and handles diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and surgical cases spanning all subspecialties except cardiac.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-hour shifts
- 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period; self-scheduling, variable coverage
- Block scheduling required
- Float to pediatric/PICU/pedi ED on a PRN basis; refusal to float may affect guaranteed hours
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience; Level III experience strongly preferred
- Active compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- Certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced
Clinical Scope
You'll manage high-acuity neonates — including those born at 29–34 weeks and under — with responsibilities spanning:
- Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP), high-frequency oscillation, nitric oxide therapy
- Arterial line and central line management, UAC/UVC care
- Therapeutic hypothermia, phototherapy, bubble CPAP, HFNC
- Neonatal abstinence syndrome, NEC, meconium aspiration, surgical post-op care
- IV vasopressors, neonatal dosage calculations, sepsis workups
