NICU RN — Night Shift | Lubbock, TX | 13-Week Contract
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-hour shifts
- Block scheduling required; self-scheduling model
- 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- No on-call required
- Must commit to 3 of 5 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
The unit manages high-acuity neonatal patients, including premature infants, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and surgical subspecialties (excluding cardiac). Procedures and skills utilized include:
- High-frequency and conventional ventilator management
- Bubble CPAP, HFNC, nitric oxide therapy, therapeutic hypothermia
- UAC/UVC placement and management, arterial and central line care
- Neonatal abstinence syndrome, NEC, and sepsis workups
- Patient and family education; developmental care
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years NICU experience required; Level III experience strongly preferred
- Active compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- Certifications: BLS, NRP
- Scrub color: Navy
Float Requirement
Travelers may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities on a PRN basis; refusal to float may impact guaranteed hours.
Contract length may extend beyond 13 weeks for the right candidate.
