Emergency Department RN

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts, 7a–7p, including weekends and holidays

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 26, 2026

About the Role

The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN to deliver rapid, evidence-based nursing care in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. You'll work alongside physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to manage patients across a broad spectrum of emergent and urgent conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid and comprehensive assessment of incoming patients; prioritize care based on acuity
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and established protocols
• Respond to trauma activations, codes, and acute deterioration with appropriate emergency interventions
• Monitor and manage patient flow, including admission, transfer, and discharge coordination
• Collaborate with the care team on individualized treatment planning
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions to patients and families
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient response accurately in the medical record
• Maintain infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required
• Minimum 1+ year of ER nursing experience
• Proficiency with protocols and high-acuity environments
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• TNCC or CEN certification preferred
