Float Pool RN – Medical-Surgical & Stepdown
Position Overview
Join the facility's float pool as a 12-hour RN, rotating between medical-surgical units, telemetry/stepdown, rehabilitation, and ED holding areas. You'll gain exposure across multiple patient populations while maintaining continuity with core unit teams.
Unit Details
Medical-Surgical Units
- All-private patient rooms
- Primary patient types: Post-operative, orthopedic, ia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemotherapy
- CNA support: 2 per shift (days only)
- BLS required
Telemetry/Stepdown Unit
- All-private patient rooms
- Primary patient types: Cardiac dysrhythmias, CVAs, and step-downs from higher acuity
- Central monitoring station; you'll read and interpret telemetry strips
- Manage drips: Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin (insulin set-rate only)
- CNA support: 2 per shift during day and mid-shift
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
Support & Resources
Hospitalist on-site 24/7. Respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and IV support available around the clock. Orientation: 1–2 shifts with a preceptor, depending on unit.
Schedule
- Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour)
- Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday/Sunday)
- Two Fridays per schedule
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Self-scheduling and blocked schedules allowed
Contract Details
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours guaranteed per week
- 2 shifts cancellation allowance per contract term
