Cardiac Progressive Care Unit — Travel RN | Nights | Burlington, NC

This 13-week travel nursing contract places you in a Cardiac Medical Progressive Care unit caring for adult patients with complex cardiac and respiratory conditions. The unit operates 24/7 with remote cardiac monitoring support and nurse assistant coverage around the clock, plus an RN secretary during daytime hours.

Shift Details

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Self-scheduling within a 6-week scheduling cycle based on departmental need

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Primary focus on cardiac patients: CHF, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement. Secondary focus on respiratory conditions including COPD, ia, and BiPAP management.

Required Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Continuous telemetry monitoring
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Peripheral line and PICC line management
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management; titration of drips
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Chest tube management
• Tracheostomy care
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Rapid Response Team experience preferred

Certifications

• BLS and ACLS required
• NIHSS preferred

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac PCU experience required
• Charge RN experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome
• Active RN license must be in hand at submission
• EKG competency exam required (two attempts allowed)
• No local candidates within 50 miles
• Floating to other system campuses may be required
• COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
