Medical-Surgical Nursing – Evening Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks a compassionate RN to join the medical-surgical unit on an evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM). This is a 13-week contract position working four shifts per week, including every other weekend and holiday rotation.
Clinical Responsibilities
You'll provide direct patient care to a diverse med-surg population, with a focus on:
- Comprehensive patient assessment, pain management, and medication administration (including IV therapy)
- Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of rhythms; recognition and response to acute cardiac symptoms
- Medication reconciliation and thorough, timely documentation
- Post-operative and surgical patient assessment, teaching, and equipment troubleshooting (traction, feeding pumps, chest tubes, drains)
- Patient and family education tailored to learning needs and discharge planning
- Delegation and supervision of nursing interventions
- Participation in multidisciplinary rounds
- Recognition of abnormal lab/diagnostic results and timely physician notification
- Safety-focused care with proactive error reduction
Requirements
- Current MA RN license
- ACLS certification upon hire
- Minimum 1 year med-surg experience
- Previous acute telemetry experience required
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; MOAB class within 60 days of hire
