Respiratory Therapist — Night Shift | Blacksburg, VA

This is a 13-week contract position on the night shift (19:00–07:00) within a hospital-based Respiratory Therapy department serving a mixed inpatient population across ICU, cardiac/medical unit, medical-surgical floors, and the emergency department.

Unit Overview

The respiratory team supports a range of acuity levels, from critical care ventilator management in the ICU to general respiratory care across medical-surgical and step-down patients. The department is known for its highly engaged staff and leadership — with traveler retention rates that speak for themselves; many travelers extend or return for repeat assignments.

Schedule

  • 3 × 12-hour night shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week

Required Certifications

  • BLS (required)
  • ACLS (required)
  • PALS and NRP (preferred)

Required Skills

  • Core respiratory therapy competencies
  • Advanced clinical skills preferred
