ICU Travel Nurse – Long Beach, CA

13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | Start Date: November 9, 2026

This is a high-acuity ICU position caring for a complex patient population including neurological, cardiac, post-PCI, sepsis, stroke, TBI, and ETOH cases. The unit also manages patients requiring ventricular monitoring and Camino ICP monitoring.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation with core staff (must be available for 2 of 3 major holidays)
• First to float to telemetry or ED ICU/tele holds

Clinical Environment

• RNs read and interpret their own telemetry strips (no monitor techs)
• Active drip management: pressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation, and more
• Ventilator management required
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• Intensivist/hospitalist in-house coverage
• Charge nurse on unit with no patient assignment; Resource RN also available

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience preferred
• Active CA RN license required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Huddle and bedside report format utilized
• No acrylic nails or gel polish during assignment
• Scrub color: Navy blue

Orientation

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Contract: 13 weeks (91 days); hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per contract
