ICU Float Pool – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced ICU nurse for a night float pool position. You will provide care across multiple critical care units, including the ICU, medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, overflow, and post-anesthesia recovery areas as needed.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 4 x 12-hour nights (19:00–07:30)
- Contract Duration: 15 weeks
- Start Dates: 10/26, 11/2, 11/16, or 12/2
- Weekend Coverage: Required (minimum 6 shifts per 6-week period)
- Holiday Coverage: Must work 3 of 5 holidays
- Time Off: Maximum 2 weeks total; no time off during the first 2 weeks
- Scheduling: No requests accommodated—flexibility is essential
Requirements
- Active California RN license (permanent; no pending or temporary licenses)
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience from a large facility (400+ beds)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- PA line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience is mandatory
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- EKG exam on first day of orientation—must pass to continue
Clinical Scope
You will manage high-acuity adult and geriatric patients, including those with:
- Neurological conditions requiring ICP monitoring
- Respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation
- Hemodynamic instability requiring vasoactive drip management
- Post-cardiac surgery and acute MI complications
- GI bleeds, renal/urological emergencies, and shock states
- Transplant patients (liver, kidney, pancreas, heart/lung)
Key Skills
Arterial and central line management, ventilator care, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, blood product administration, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, phlebotomy, and procedural sedation monitoring.
Transplant and CRRT experience preferred.
