PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care / Cardiac Stepdown — Night Shift | Asheville, NC

This 13-week contract (with the possibility of an extended engagement) places you on a high-acuity cardiac progressive care unit working nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with every-other-weekend commitment and 36 guaranteed hours per week.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

The unit cares for patients presenting with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and DKA, as well as post-procedural patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD implantation, and ablation. Bedside cardioversion is performed on the unit.

Required Skills & Experience

• Stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry monitoring experience
• Proficiency managing titratable cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin drips, and diuretics (Bumex/Lasix)

Preferred Skills

• Experience with prostacyclin therapy (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS

Float Expectations

Candidates must be willing to float to MedSurg units, stepdown units, and ER holding as needed.

Dress Code

All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants.
