Cardiac ICU (CICU) — Registered Nurse

Asheville, NC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This CICU position supports a high-acuity cardiac intensive care unit managing complex cardiovascular patients. The unit operates with RNs only — no HUC or PCT support — requiring nurses who are confident, independent, and experienced in critical care.

Shift & Schedule

• 18:45–07:15 (12-hour nights)
• 36 hours/week, alternating weekends
• Travelers float to all areas of the facility

Clinical Scope

The unit handles advanced cardiac and critical care procedures, including cardioversion, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, EGD, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis. Nurses manage patients on mechanical ventilation, vasopressors, sedation, and paralytic agents, and must be comfortable with PA catheter setup and hemodynamic interpretation, transvenous pacing, and TEE.

Required Skills

• ICU experience required
• Titration of vesicant medications
• Pressors, sedation, and paralytics management
• Ventilator and trach management
• Telemetry interpretation
• Hemodynamics and PA catheter setup/interpretation

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience strongly valued
• CCRN recommended

Dress Code

• Navy or navy and white scrubs
• No pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs
