Emergency Department Nurse
Location: Asheville, NC
Shift: 10:45 AM – 11:15 PM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
About the Role
Join the Emergency Department as a registered nurse in a high-acuity setting. You'll provide direct patient care in a busy ED managing trauma, stroke, and behavioral health cases alongside routine emergency presentations. The unit handles significant patient volume and serves a diverse, multilingual community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care across all ED areas, including and acute care zones
- Utilize cardiac monitoring and support equipment to optimize patient safety
- Implement AIDET protocols to enhance patient experience
- Maintain flexibility to float to all sections within the department based on census and acuity
- Participate in real-time feedback and team-based care coordination
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience; at least 1 year in an emergency department setting
- Previous experience in high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) preferred
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS (required before start date)
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Strong teamwork mentality and ability to adapt to dynamic patient needs
Schedule & Expectations
- Every other weekend required; unable to accommodate block scheduling preferences
- No floating outside the ED
- Navy scrubs
