Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Location: Lexington, KY
Schedule: 3rd shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM); weekends and holidays required
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
About the Role
The facility is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled RN to join its medical-surgical/telemetry unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. This is a dynamic role requiring strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation; recognize and respond promptly to rhythm changes and vital sign abnormalities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions based on evidence-based practice
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac medications and drips as applicable
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound assessment and pain management
- Coordinate discharge planning and provide patient/family education on conditions, medications, and self-care
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience
- Demonstrated competency in telemetry/EKG interpretation
- ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
