Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a 20-week travel contract in its clinical laboratory. You'll perform a full range of diagnostic testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, and urinalysis to support patient care across all age groups.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: Tuesday–Saturday (may rotate)
- Hours: 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM, 5 shifts per week
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
Requirements
- Current California Medical Laboratory Scientist license (ASCP-MLS or equivalent) — required at submission
- Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience
- Two professional references covering the past 3 years
- Commitment to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Key Responsibilities
Specimen receipt, accessioning, and processing across all laboratory disciplines. Blood banking procedures including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening and identification, crossmatching, and transfusion reaction workup. Microbiology culture setup, organism identification, and sensitivity testing. Chemistry and hematology analyzer operation. Manual procedures including differentials, urinalysis, and gram stains. Quality assurance and proper reporting of results.
