Critical Care ED Pharmacist
Position Overview
Join the facility's emergency department and ICU pharmacy team as a Critical Care ED Pharmacist. You'll provide clinical pharmacy support in high-acuity settings, attending codes and trauma activations, and serving as a medication expert for the medical staff.
Shift & Schedule
- Evening shift: 12:30–21:00 (5×8 hours)
- Swing shift: 14:00–00:30 (5×8 hours)
- Day shift available for candidates with rounding experience
- 7 days per week availability preferred to support 24/7 operations
- 13-week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Attend Code Blues, RSIs, Code Strokes, and Code Sepsis; provide medications and clinical recommendations
- Review and process all STAT orders in the ED and ICU
- Monitor medication verification queue and flag orders requiring clinical intervention
- Conduct drug utilization reviews and monitor for interactions
- Participate in antibiotic stewardship and formulary maintenance
- Provide pharmacokinetic dosing and adverse drug event evaluation
- Function as a clinical pharmacy resource for hospital staff
Required Qualifications
- Current pharmacy license (TX State Board of Pharmacy)
- BCCCP or BCEMP board certification
- PGY2 residency in Critical Care or ED, OR 5+ years clinical practice in ICU/ED
- 1+ year ASHP-accredited residency OR 4+ years acute hospital experience
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)
