PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit RN — Night Shift | Morgantown, WV

This 13-week contract (with possible extension) places you on a stepdown/immediate care unit managing primarily cardiac patients, including those recovering from cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, alongside medical/surgical cases. Acuity varies and may reflect what other facilities classify as progressive care or telemetry-level patients.

Shift & Schedule

• 4x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekdays with some weekend coverage
• Weekend block schedules considered (Fri–Sun or Sat–Mon)
• Holiday RTO limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays

Clinical Scope

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV insertion and maintenance, central line and PICC line management
• Hemodynamic monitoring; cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
• BiPAP/CPAP management, non-invasive airway management
• Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
• Heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and social services

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years RN experience; at least 1 year in Med/Surg Telemetry and 2 years in stepdown
• Active WV or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
• BLS and ACLS required (AHA-issued)
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Permanent address 100+ miles from the facility required

• Orientation: 8 hours, held every other Monday
• Minimum 2 manager/charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
