Med Surg

Med/Surg RN – Night Shift | Jackson, MS | 13-Week Contract

This night shift opportunity places you across a group of general medical/surgical units managing a broad patient population in an acute care setting. The units collectively care for patients with congestive heart failure, diabetes, post-surgical needs, trauma-related diagnoses, acute kidney injury, sickle cell anemia, gastroparesis, and respiratory illness.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling accommodated when possible
• Every other weekend or two weekends per month required; holiday rotation with staff
• No on-call requirement

Clinical Scope

• All units have telemetry capability with central monitoring support
• RNs titrate heparin drips and must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes
• Respiratory support including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow available; RT support on unit
• Charge RNs carry a light patient load; nurse aides present on all units

Float Requirement

All staff float between Med/Surg units based on skillset; higher-acuity assignments are generally directed to core staff.

Scrub Color: Any solid, professional color

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• At least 6 months of recent high-acuity Med/Surg experience (trauma-level or equivalent high-volume surgical environment)
• Comfort with lines and chest tubes
• Proficient in electronic charting — no charting training provided during orientation
• BLS required; prior travel experience highly preferred
• FBI fingerprint clearance required prior to start

Orientation: One day (paperwork, system logins, unit tour) plus two preceptored shifts
