Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Eureka, CA
4x12-Hour Days | 26-Week Contract | Start Date: ASAP
This opportunity is ideal for an L&D or postpartum nurse ready to work in a dynamic unit serving a high-risk OB and culturally diverse patient population. RNs actively circulate on cesarean sections in addition to managing postpartum couplet care and newborn assessment.
Shift & Schedule
- Days, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (4x12)
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Holiday commitment: must work 3 of 5 (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO: no more than 7 days per contract; all requests must be submitted upfront
Unit Overview
- Patient population: neonates, infants, and adults
- Average daily census: 15–20
- High-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Float within scope required; travelers float first
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Key Clinical Skills
- Labor & delivery, vaginal and cesarean section support
- High-risk antepartum and postpartum hemorrhage management
- Magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications
- External and internal fetal monitoring
- Newborn assessment, neonatal abstinence syndrome, phototherapy
- Breastfeeding/lactation support, couplet care, discharge teaching
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of L&D/postpartum experience
- Active California RN license required at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
- Two professional references covering the past 3 years
- 40-hour orientation
