Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Night Shift | Eureka, CA
This 26-week travel assignment is an excellent fit for Labor & Delivery and postpartum nurses ready to work in a high-volume OB setting serving a culturally diverse, high-risk patient population.
Shift & Schedule
- 4x12-hour nights, 18:00–06:00
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Must commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- 40-hour orientation
Unit Overview
The unit manages high-risk obstetric patients, including antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. RNs circulate for cesarean sections and provide couplet care. Average daily census is 15–20. Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected; travelers are typically first to float, including to nearby sister facilities.
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
Key Clinical Skills
- Labor support, vaginal and cesarean delivery, C-section recovery and circulation
- High-risk antepartum, magnesium sulfate therapy, postpartum hemorrhage management
- Newborn assessment, hypoglycemia management, phototherapy
- Fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, spiral electrode placement
- Lactation support, discharge teaching, car seat education
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of OB/L&D/postpartum RN experience
- Active California RN license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
- Compact license must be in hand at submission
- 2 professional references covering at least 1 year within the past 3 years
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be considered at an adjusted rate
