Labor & Delivery Nurse – Travel Position
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a 26-week travel contract. This is a day shift role (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with an ASAP start date, ideal for seasoned travelers looking for a community-based OB environment.
Shift & Schedule
- 3 x 12-hour day shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Potential on-call based on census
- Self-scheduling model
- 40-hour orientation included
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Clinical Scope
You'll manage labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care for 2–3 patients per shift across 5 bedrooms. Responsibilities include:
- Labor support and delivery assistance (vaginal and cesarean)
- Fetal heart rate monitoring and abnormal pattern recognition
- IV management, pain control (epidural, PCA, nitrous oxide)
- Newborn assessment and resuscitation
- Postpartum hemorrhage management and couplet care
- Sterile vaginal exams (required)
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of L&D experience
- Current California state license (compact license preferred; pending licenses not accepted)
- ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate certifications
- RN with 2+ years total nursing experience
- Willingness to float to postpartum and other units as needed
- 2 professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
Important Notes
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
- Facility does not accept Nursys or background report hits
- You may be asked to float between nearby sister facilities
- 50-mile local radius
